Law Enforcement (Real Estate) Agents?

According to the article Law Enforcement (Real Estate) Agents? on NYTimes.com officials in the two of Islip on Long Island have taken recent measures to crack down on illegal rentals of single family houses. Recently, a law was passed that required real estate agents to verify that the homes and apartments they represent are legal and compliant with building codes. The new law also raised the fines for those in violation of the law. Furthermore, the law holds that anyone, be it the real estate agents, the homeowner or anyone else involved in the illegal renting of the apartment will be held responsible.
